084. Diagnosis

And then there was one blind man. Circumstances beyond my means or understanding have deprived a sound, logical medical investigation. Or as I like to say--got the easy way out. Heartwarming, wonderful in that way that Hallmark hopes to mimic every time, isn't it?

There's work still to be done. I haven't seen Dr. Deus Ex Machina around here to pick up his shift everywhere else.

Say Dr. Jimmy, (I wasn't aware that was your official moniker) I can't help but notice it looks like you're trying to get an Eden of your own. The least she could do is pick up an accent. I guess that's what the button nose is for. Right?

Observations:
fundoscopy at a typical level
visualization + dreaming
Optokinetic nystagmus -> no
frequent seizuring -> no

Looks like cortical blindness. Boring.

Man struggling? Poor lonely sap.

There has to be more to it.

Didn't his girlfriend go home? Could explain why he's picking up urchins.

Ask the 'Angel.'

Reasonable enough observation. He must be hurting hard if he's aiming that low.

Aren't you supposed to advise me to speak to a priest who will speak to a bishop who will speak to a cardinal who may have connections with an angel?

I've met a few priests claiming to have a direct line. Never met an Angel who claims to talk to clergy.

Already they sound more sensible than I believed.

We're not talking feathered wings and halo for real, are we?

I haven't met it. It says it's an Angel. If anything the response to it suggests otherwise.

Two cases of blindness from one entity. We need to fill more of the holes in this parable.

There are incidents of Biblical blindess. Saul. Peter isn't a persecutor or a sinner.

After his affliction, St Paul also writes: And no marvel, for even Satan disguises himself as an Angel of light.

As impressive as your spot on theological commentary is, it doesn't help this case.

An angel can be anyone's perception of bright, visually appealing thing that can appear helpful or caring. And because we call it a duck doesn't mean it's a duck.

That's my point. In the passage Paul talks about not taking those who claim to be good wholly at their word. Everybody lies.

So ask the Angel.

No, it's just my irate surprise at the fact that you and Chase are dissecting my personal life. And yes, I'm aware that it's completely unjustified surprise, given how routine this is.

I treated it as an observation. Given that it's true and your behavior has been less than predictable, surprise makes sense.

She asked for help, so I agreed to help her.

Morgana and the fact that she's left have nothing to do with this. In all honesty, a large part of me is relieved she's gone.

A distraction.

Fine. It's a distraction. Clearly I strategically planned for someone whose very existence I had no prior knowledge of to catch the fact that I was a doctor on the Network and ask me for help.

I cared about her, but the situation our relationship turned into was hardly clear by the end.

Or is there something else?

Then it makes goodbye easier.

She's just interested in studying medicine, so she asked for advice and to come in for some basic observation. It's really not a big deal.
