003 Diagnosis

Based upon the one theory, that a person can't read within dreams which I am doing at this very moment, this Bermuda Triangle of a cityscape is more likely not a dream than it had been. I'm not incorrect but it doesn't look like I'm right so far. I need a new approach... So, this would been that my subconscious is still hyper active likely stimulated by whatever the hell is going on.

Where's a magic 8 ball when you really need direction? I love asking questions with answers like "I don't know" or "no one knows". Or better yet, answers based on what everyone else says. I think those are my most favorite of all.

One left. Just one. Today is going to suck.
Can anyone tell me about the prescription policy at the hospital?

If a person can not read in dreams, then what function does Lucien the librarian of the Dreaming serve?

Better check your premises Mr. Limpy Doctor.

Good point beside the fact that I have no idea what you're talking about.

Doctor House, Mr. Duran Duran.

Can a person dream within a dream?

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, that is a possibility.

I do not believe that I am merely some illusion that your subconscious has formed.

I do not yet know, but I can come back with an answer to your last question. Though I imagine it involves meeting a resident doctor first, whom you may expect an answer from.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I think my subconscious doesn't believe that it's formed some mere illusion like yourself. Oh wait. It doesn't think that way. My bad.

About that part, I'm not sure if I want to. I'll consider it, thanks.

Have you ever heard the word denial before? This isn't a dream.

Gosh Timmy, you're right. What a fool I've been. Thanks for being the cool voice of reason. All the kids in high school must adore you.

Enlighten me, why would one think this would be a dream in the first place? Why cling to the lies the brain so stubbornly wish to provide?

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps you haven't noticed, but since being here there are talking animals, people parenting objects and a huge conspiracy that involves blowing this place up that everyone is generally alright with. My lying brain tells me that these things are not normal and puts forth a logical explanation.

[identity profile] fishcake-dreams.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah-

What sort of prescription do you need?

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
A woman after my heart.

Vicodin.

[identity profile] to-sublimate.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It's real. You're here. Deal with it.

No facts. No conclusion. Don't ever go to med school, you hear me?

You know that river in Egypt?

Don't any more of the water I don't think it's been kind to you.

Try looking in the fountain, Doctor House.

The reason all the answers are "no one knows" is because all knowledge is held by approximately five people who rule the City here. No one else is told anything. I've tried and tried to get into their computer systems, but obtaining any sensible information is more difficult than even I can manage.

Here's what I do know. Those who rule the City have the ability to manipulate what we see and do here. My theory is that it is some kind of computer network that can affect our minds; not like this Matrix you were talking about, but more like electrical stimulation of exact mental areas. Thus, the "magic" and "birth to objects" (and other "curses," as they are called) and other phenomena.

There is a clock here in the City; you may hear its ticking when you're alone. The rulers of the City have some reason for "cursing" us that has to do with powering that clock. Maybe it's closer to that Matrix that I imagined, but using humans as batteries is far too inefficient. I'm not sure what the mechanism is; I haven't investigated it yet.

Also, if your leg is irreparable by typical medical means and you have to rely on medication, I'm sure I could arrange to provide you with a mechanical leg. I am no doctor, but I can create mechanical systems given research, and I can duplicate a simple cybernetic leg -- such systems are trivial to imitate given the proper technology. There are others who will deal with the replacement of your old leg. I'm not sure what will happen once you return home; you may go back with a mechanical leg; you may get your real one back.

(OOC: I totally forgot to tell you that you playing House is amazing. I <3 House.)

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
As much as those facts are not helpful, they are facts. Thanks. What to do with them is the next step I suppose.

I'm very attached to my leg. I'd rather not have it removed.

[identity profile] crete-goddess.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Haven't settled in yet, Dr. House?

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Not yet, your highness. I'm getting essentials then I'll come up with a plan of action.

[identity profile] lyra-of-dust.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
If you go in and explain what you need, they'll give it to you, mostly. A lot of the stuff there's automated.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Automated? So I'll be seeing a vending machine?

[identity profile] theotokos.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Why can't I find interesting people like you to hang around with?

And I'm pretty sure you can by a magic eight ball.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure. I know you'll find them.

Later when I've got money. Then I'll have all the answers.
