003 Diagnosis

Based upon the one theory, that a person can't read within dreams which I am doing at this very moment, this Bermuda Triangle of a cityscape is more likely not a dream than it had been. I'm not incorrect but it doesn't look like I'm right so far. I need a new approach... So, this would been that my subconscious is still hyper active likely stimulated by whatever the hell is going on.

Where's a magic 8 ball when you really need direction? I love asking questions with answers like "I don't know" or "no one knows". Or better yet, answers based on what everyone else says. I think those are my most favorite of all.

One left. Just one. Today is going to suck. Can anyone tell me about the prescription policy at the hospital?

The reason all the answers are "no one knows" is because all knowledge is held by approximately five people who rule the City here. No one else is told anything. I've tried and tried to get into their computer systems, but obtaining any sensible information is more difficult than even I can manage.

Here's what I do know. Those who rule the City have the ability to manipulate what we see and do here. My theory is that it is some kind of computer network that can affect our minds; not like this Matrix you were talking about, but more like electrical stimulation of exact mental areas. Thus, the "magic" and "birth to objects" (and other "curses," as they are called) and other phenomena.

There is a clock here in the City; you may hear its ticking when you're alone. The rulers of the City have some reason for "cursing" us that has to do with powering that clock. Maybe it's closer to that Matrix that I imagined, but using humans as batteries is far too inefficient. I'm not sure what the mechanism is; I haven't investigated it yet.

Also, if your leg is irreparable by typical medical means and you have to rely on medication, I'm sure I could arrange to provide you with a mechanical leg. I am no doctor, but I can create mechanical systems given research, and I can duplicate a simple cybernetic leg -- such systems are trivial to imitate given the proper technology. There are others who will deal with the replacement of your old leg. I'm not sure what will happen once you return home; you may go back with a mechanical leg; you may get your real one back.
