019. Diagnosis

Explosions aren't that scary unless you are in one. If you're in one, you aren't scared for long because then you are blown to bits or in excruciating pain fear doesn't matter. I've seen Die Hard. Independence Day. I can turn on a TV. Here though, I doubt we'll see footage of what happened with a bunch of talking heads. There are a lot of explosions in this stupid place.

They're annoying and loud around here, not scary.

What is, instead, is the lack of a party assuming responsibility. There is no al Qaeda, no Hezbollah. Even our home grown bad guys are quiet. The least you could do is lie and say you did it, someone wants our attention. Our "government" has been dismantled. You all are the quietest bunch of sheep ever.

None of those people are stepping up. Did you notice that?

[identity profile] freakyfanboy.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Because you aren't looking for people who've lived in outer space, or fairies, or talking cats. Or even people who are used to explosions. You're looking for someone that caused the explosion.

I'm not looking for anyone. I'm making observations, four-eyes. I said no one has stepped up to take responsibility. Everyone else is fine with that. The network isn't bringing out explosion specialists, that's an observation on your part. You're half way to playing the game properly. Try again.

[identity profile] freakyfanboy.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Four-eyes?! Hmph...I wouldn't say everyone is fine with it, we just don't know where else to look for answers. The ruins didn't reveal much.

You think so?

What do you want to be when you grow up?

[identity profile] freakyfanboy.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
A writer. A musician. A scholar. I'm in the music division of my school.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Don't quit it. Because to say that there is noting to gather from ruins is asinine.

[identity profile] freakyfanboy.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
I already went and looked! It's a pile of burnt rubble, no bodies, nothing.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
No bodies--that's something. Not all evidence is tangible. It's factors for analysis. Simple really.

[identity profile] freakyfanboy.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
I'm dealing with technology that isn't in my world--assuming it is a form of technology, and not magic. There's not much else I can do, except to say "If a story spinner did this, I'd like to see the story."

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
If you're fond of stories maybe you'd like a little something called symbolism.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
A crumbling building doesn't have any symbolic meaning to you? Give me something to work with, kid. You're batting zero.

[starting to wonder exactly what he's looking for, but playing along because it's interesting and makes him feel like he's at least doing something to figure it out] Alright...well, the end of the deities' reign. The end of an era. um...end of government, anarchy.

[identity profile] freakyfanboy.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
No, but I don't really see what the point is.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know much but I know more than you and I'm right.

[identity profile] freakyfanboy.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
Right about what? I haven't heard you make a point beyond the occasional snarky remark.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
Then you haven't been listening. You admitted I made a good point when I said that if the deities were remodeling they would have told us to pipe down. I don't feel like recapping everything you didn't choose to acknowledge.

[identity profile] freakyfanboy.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
I don't particularly see where this has gotten us, though. All we can conclude right now is "This is an unusual attack, the deities rule might have come to an end, but we don't know if they're dead or alive, and we don't know who did this because nobody's claiming it." Anyone could've known that by reading the Network.

Don't ever pursue a career in medicine because you've failed an impromptu differential diagnosis. I'll give you a C for effort.

[identity profile] freakyfanboy.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Why would I want a career in medicine anyway? I've got better things to do than listen to a bunch of sick people whine.

((OOC: Luckily he doesn't care. XDD At least, not enough to show it.))

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2008-01-03 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
You know, you're right. After all, you get to hear the sound of your own voice all the time. It's bad enough.
