126 Diagnosis

I demand an explaination for this. No. I'm not talking about Claire.

I know that it doesn't make sense. That's a cop out. Everyone says that this place has no logic, but everything makes sense somehow in its way. There's a method or mode that it's exicuted. Is there a quota to be filled? Some kind of a request order for some preestablished critieria for those that stay or go?

If I didn't know better -

How long have you been here?

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Four years and twenty three days. I mean, if we want to be exact.

[personal profile] adamantined 2011-09-28 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
In four years and twenty-three days, have you ever been able to find any kind of sense in someone leaving? I mean real sense. None of that 'it was their time' crap.

It doesn't make it any easier if you find some kind of logical answer anyway. It still happens. It doesn't stop sucking.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
No. I got lazy and distracted by the sick people.

Don't start with me on what does and does not suck.

You seriously don't have to be a dick. Really, just this once.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Something has to be consistent.
adamantined: (COLD)

[personal profile] adamantined 2011-09-30 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
No it doesn't. You aren't some constant in some math problem, this isn't some equation. Robert left. Consistency can go out the window if you've got enough of a pulse.

Have you thought that it's what they want you to believe? They want you to believe that everything is random. They want you to believe that nothing is normal.
adamantined: (CLARITY)

[personal profile] adamantined 2011-09-30 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you looked around at all in four years? Nothing here is normal. The only thing that's normal is us, and half the time we're screwed up enough on our own that it cancels out. People leaving, Robert leaving, just like that, that isn't normal. But missing them is.

I don't care what they want me to think or believe. I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about you.

[identity profile] derse-princess.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
If there is, it's probably centred around keeping us as miserable as possible.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
That's an A and B already leading to another C which would have a point and purpose too. Would.

[identity profile] derse-princess.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, the deities shouldn't be forgotten. It's possible they choose us based on how well we'll entertain them during their various whims and discard us should our reactions prove not to be to their tastes.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
They seem more cause than sole reason.

[identity profile] derse-princess.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
Then if they are the cause, it stands to reason they're the ones who hold said sole reason. Have you tried talking to them?

[personal profile] thenormalsquint 2011-09-28 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The criteria is who we can make the most miserable by yanking a particular person out of here.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a count of roughly three if we round up so far. I don't think that would be a vast majority.
thenormalsquint: (Default)

[personal profile] thenormalsquint 2011-09-28 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
But those three are most likely the loudest.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
The approximately three are still in a City of thousands.
thenormalsquint: (Default)

[personal profile] thenormalsquint 2011-09-28 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Approximately. There's still others unaccounted for.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a vast majority.

[identity profile] is-was-willbe.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
'Logic' implies a fixed set of principles. The comings and goings here nearly never hold fast to the same rules, so to speak, so in that manner of thinking, there is no logic-- or maybe just a very twisted version of logic that fluctuates too often and too dramatically to be mapped cleanly. The method is always in flux, as well. There is no set quota, unless the quota is one of curiosity and observation. The criteria are unique to each person. Of course, this is all speculation. Have I answered all of your questions?

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
No. There's always logic just as there are always principles. If an action keeps reoccurring do we say it is because there is no reason it just happens? If it were a flash in the pan reaction it would be a fluke and it would only happen once under special circumstances.

[identity profile] is-was-willbe.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
An interdependence among the cases, no matter how likely, can't be definitively proven. Objectively it would be just as likely to say everyone comes and goes by accident if we didn't know any better. We do know better, mind, but all the same there isn't necessarily any one linking factor between any two manifestations of the same result, even if they aren't completely random. Correlation is very subjective, and the human brain is wired to see patterns everywhere.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
If I wanted to google something I would have.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Google.

Look up on google the search engine.

[identity profile] is-was-willbe.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! I don't suppose I will, but thank you for the suggestion. [And she actually sounds 100% sincere about this.]

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
....I mean the search engine is called google. So now it's being replaced as a verb. There. I just saved you from googling google.

[identity profile] is-was-willbe.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, how very kind of you.

Are you trying to find reason in chaos, Doctor House?

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Since finding Nemo is out. Sure.
as_damaged: (//say i left myself with nothing much)

[personal profile] as_damaged 2011-09-29 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Who's to say it's logic comprehensible to the human mind?

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I still think that is a cop out too.
as_damaged: (//where nobody knows our name)

You're entitled to think whatever you like.

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You're too smart to buy that.
as_damaged: (//who told you that i'm not on form?)

[personal profile] as_damaged 2011-09-30 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not buying anything. Frankly, I don't think it matters.

Of everything that's happened here -- everything that shouldn't or wouldn't or couldn't have happened back home, how much of it do you have an explanation for?

[identity profile] vicodincrutch.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?
dr_conscience: (Inquisitive // Wondering)

[personal profile] dr_conscience 2011-09-30 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Right now I'm curious. I'm not saying there isn't any logic here, necessarily, I'm just asking whether you've managed to find any yet.
