vicodincrutch: (doctor doctor)

015. Diagnosis

Has it been hot enough for you? Might be a little late, but for those of you who read and those of you who remember (the numbers dwindle) I'll give a few pointers.

After the stop, drop and roll or water dousing to remove the flames from a body or body part you need to treat the result, the burn.

First degree burns are the lowest grade of burns the most important thing you should know is that don't need to bother a doctor for this one. Agitating, but all in all pretty harmless so long as you don't press on it. How do you know it's a first degree burn? It's a sunburn, people. It's red. Aloe and it will fade in three days time.

Second degree burns are something you should worry about. The skin will blister and swell. DO NOT apply aloe or any adhesive ointment. Why? It's the same as buttering up an open wound. If you really like pain and butter, go for it. If not, run under cool water. If the burn mark is bigger than your pinky finger--by bigger I mean by a good portion then you get to bother a doctor.

Third degree burns make skin not look like skin anymore. It's charred and split. Something like burnt rotisserie chicken.  Seek medical attention immediately.

Next medical issue. T-Virus. We know the symptoms, there is an antidote floating around. I want a sample of each.

You will be happy to know that there is a society of one eyed people here. When's the first meeting of the I. C. U. club?

Nice walk. But no Lee.

[He takes two vials out, both locked into a special metal and glass container. There's a third vial he's left in the bag, a dose of Daylight.]

This is confidential information, just between us. In any case I know where you live.

[He points to the two vials.]

This is the "T-Virus", this is a vaccine we've developed. It's not an antidote, it's a preventive measure.

[House's eyes light up but still keeps a rather serious expression.]

Tell me we get to test this.

That would be why I brought it to you. Off the books.

If I were a gay man, Nicholas I think you liked me that way.

[Moves closer to the samples to examine them.] Do we know what the saturation period of the virus is?

If you were a gay man and I liked you that way Gregory, Christopher would have had you jailed for malpractice.

I believe 24 hours. Any transfusion into the bloodstream is fair game.

There's always conjugal visits. If not, then I'd have a lot of company.

I'm up for trying it.

Five to be exact.

[He holds up his five fingers, since the prison barely holds any prisoners.]

We should do this in the morning. Christopher will wonder where I've been.

[Writing down an address on a business card.]

Any of them cute?

Tomorrow? You're such a tease.

The question is are they clean.

[He hands the address to House.]

I should have been home two hours ago.

And if they aren't is it curable?

[Takes the card and reads it before tucking it away into a pocket.]

Running late then, aren't we. Traffic on the road from all of those charred bodies.

[Steps to the door.]

That's what Daylight is for.

[The third sample. Incidentally he's taking them all with him, safekeeping and what not.]

It keeps him happy.

[Glumly watches the promising samples be placed back into the bag.]

Wait, who exactly are we testing these on? If I'm going to wake up that early it has to be spectacular. It has to be me.

Whatever happened to mice?

I know for a fact that Daylight works. At 7:00 we'll have ample time to test it.

[Shouldering the bag.]

Are you saying we are mice?

Daylight at daylight.

[Opens the door, holding the knob with his cane.]

The only other option would be men.

I'll see you in the morning.

[Out out, like a damned spot.]

Only if you tell me about the rabbits, George.

Yeah, yeah.

[Shuts the door.]
